The Utah State Prison Relocation project stands as one of Utah’s largest construction endeavors, and Intermark Steel was eager to contribute. Our involvement began with the construction of the warehouse, one of the first permanent structures erected on the campus, marking Intermark’s debut in joist-and-deck tilt projects. This phase was refreshing, allowing us to demonstrate our skills on a more straightforward project following many rigorous undertakings, with fabrication and erection going smoothly from start to finish. As the campus expanded, Intermark participated in the construction of the GFS and GUC buildings, which were among the last to commence. This effort required a double-manned crew and two cranes working simultaneously to meet the tight schedule. Despite facing financial challenges on this project, Intermark prioritized teamwork and collaboration, ultimately completing the work for the benefit of our client and the State of Utah. Our commitment to long-term relationships and project success exemplifies our motto: “Old Values, New Methods.” The new facility emphasizes rehabilitation, incorporating advanced programming, state-of-the-art physical and mental health facilities, and innovative housing to foster positive behavioral changes and reduce recidivism. Spanning nearly six years and involving thousands of workers, this massive project exemplifies the collaborative effort required to achieve such significant construction milestones.
